Heroin Skateboards was founded in 1998 in the UK by skateboarder and artist Mark "Fos" Foster. Early decks were hand-stenciled when full screen printing was unaffordable.

Foster has said the name refers to an addiction to skateboarding, not drugs; he has described himself as straight-edge. The brand grew through UK shops before U.S. distribution via Baker Boys around 2011.

Heroin is known for Foster’s distinctive hand-drawn graphics, unconventional shapes, and skate videos. Product lines include decks, soft goods, and related hardgoods.
