Loaded Boards was started by Don Tashman in September 2000 in Los Angeles after years of building experimental boards to mimic surfing and snowboarding on pavement.

The first production board, the Vanguard, launched in June 2002 as a flexy bamboo composite. The lineup later moved fully to bamboo cores and related composite constructions.

Loaded designs composite longboards and skateboards in California, emphasizing flex, carve, and pump. Sister brand Orangatang produces urethane wheels used with Loaded setups.
