Slave Skateboards (often styled $lave) was founded in June 2007 by creative director Ben Horton, formerly associated with Zero/Black Box art direction.

Based in Carlsbad, California, and historically distributed with Jamie Thomas’s Black Box brands, Slave was known for raw, socially pointed graphics.

The brand produced decks, wheels, hardware, and apparel, with its first full-length video Radio Television released in 2009.
