About Vans
Vans was founded on March 16, 1966, when brothers Paul Van Doren and Jim Van Doren, along with partners Gordon Lee and Serge Delia, opened The Van Doren Rubber Company in Anaheim, California. The Vans #44 deck shoe—now known as the Authentic—was among the first styles produced.
Skateboarders adopted Vans for their rugged build and sticky waffle sole throughout the 1970s. Iconic models include the Era (designed with Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta), Old Skool, Classic Slip-On, and Sk8-Hi. Vans’ “Off The Wall” identity has defined skate and youth culture for decades.
