New Deal Skateboards launched in spring 1990 around Paul Schmitt, Andy Howell, and Steve Douglas, emerging from Schmitt’s Schmitt Stix era as street skating rose.

The brand was known for graffiti-influenced graphics, DIY-feeling catalogs, and early-’90s videos that helped define that generation of street skating.

After closing around the early 2000s, New Deal later returned as a heritage street-deck brand tied to Schmitt’s woodshop and founding riders.
