About Oakley
Oakley, Inc. was founded in 1975 by Jim Jannard in California; the name came from his English Setter, Oakley Anne.
It began with motorcycle grips sold at motocross events, then expanded into goggles and, in 1984–1985, performance and lifestyle sunglasses such as Factory Pilot Eyeshades and Frogskins.
Headquartered in Foothill Ranch, California, Oakley makes sports eyewear, apparel, and accessories and has been a Luxottica subsidiary since 2007.
