Prime Wood was founded in 1930 by Italian-American craftsman Cesare (Ceasare) Tuccinardi as a California furniture business. By the 1960s the family was curving plywood; the shop pressed early skate decks by 1968 for brands such as Madrid and Z-Boys–era projects.

Prime Wood was founded in 1930 by Italian-American craftsman Cesare (Ceasare) Tuccinardi as a California furniture business. By the 1960s the family was curving plywood; the shop pressed early skate decks by 1968 for brands such as Madrid and Z-Boys–era projects.

In the late 1980s Steve Rocco and Rodney Mullen worked with Phil Tuccinardi at Prime while building World Industries–era shapes; Prime became a major OEM press for Blind, Plan B, Birdhouse, Baker, and many others.

After the Tuccinardi brothers retired in 2008, Scott Holloway acquired the business (later Prime Wood LA / Prime Heritage), focusing on USA-made decks and classic-shape reissues with hand screen printing.
