About Shoe Goo
Shoe Goo is a rubber-based adhesive/sealant created in 1972 by Lyman Van Vliet, who founded Eclectic Products in Palos Verdes, California, after seeking a tougher repair for tennis shoe soles.
The product uses abrasion-resistant synthetic rubber with solvents for flexible bonds on footwear and other materials. Eclectic Products was later sold (1988) to the Willamette Valley Company and based in Eugene, Oregon.
Skateboarders widely use Shoe Goo to reinforce and repair skate shoes abraded by grip tape and sometimes to add traction on boards; it is a skate-shop staple repair adhesive.
