About New Era
New Era Cap Company was founded in 1920 in Buffalo, New York, by Ehrhardt Koch (initially E. Koch Cap Company, soon renamed New Era). It remains a major American headwear maker.
Harold Koch modernized the fitted pro cap into the 59Fifty (“Brooklyn Style”) in 1954. Since 1993 New Era has been MLB’s exclusive on-field cap supplier and later expanded licenses across NFL, NBA, and other leagues.
